RI Spinning Guild.

Hi, just a short note to say I am finally online with the RI Spinning group. They are a very fun and uplifting group to belong to. They are helpful, considerate, and non judgemental. Just what one would expect from a fiber related group. I have had many enjoyable hours with the gals and guys. I look forward to many more as well. It will be fun to see both my spinning groups at events. Ane, I get to go to twice as many events to boot ! The dynamics of this group are great. Well, off to work I go.....Blessings one and all. Soon I will have a new wheel in my corral...and will hopefully be finding homes for 2 of the girls......

Big Art Show in New Bedford.

Well, here we are at the fall art show. Never known to be one of the better ones. We always do this show, as the people who come are scoping out what they will return for at the Christmas show. Pretty funny actually. Jokes on them...Me and Karen wont be in that show...we will have a sign on the door and in the hallway telling of the date of our own show. I will have to email friends and family abt it as well. Kind of a private show. It was freezing at the show today. Hopefully tomorrow will be better. She cant be in it as she has to go to NY. I hate doing a show on Thanks Giving weekend....Its so BAD of a day. Everyone goes to the mall and real stores as they want the sales.....not to art studios. I totally agree with my studio mate Karen. gonna go sti on my ass for a while. Lisa

I HAVE to make Cape Cod Classics work !!!

Well, frusteration is ebbing in. Or should I say setting in? So what do we do in the 11th hour? we PUNT!!! Last week I called all 22 of my yarn shops that are now carrying my line of knitting accessories. By the time I was done, they had me so depressed....it lasted 2 days for Petes sake. Things are so slow...nothing is selling...no one is coming in...people come in but say they cant spend any money etc. etc. WOW...the economy is really taking its toll. Via my phone calls I had suggested they sign up for a trunk show....they saw this as a lot of work for no reward due to the fact the weeks previous held no rewards in them either.....Well......"OH Woe has me" is not the attitude to make things happen....the Question is: "what can I do to promote my store, and get some new faces in to buy yarn and stuff????? I came up with an answer. My prediction is that any who who does not try my idea will be looking at a sad state of affairs....in the weeks that follow. YOU NEED NEW BLOOD LADIES....and a reason to knit. I am composing a mail out to them. I did the ruff draft, and need to stew on it for a couple days to make sure what I say and offer is going to work. Basically, the store invites their current mailing list, adds a free gift if they bring a friend with them that same night. I am willing to make the gifts even.... super cheap....(.25 cents to cover the cost of materials and no labor). To receive the gift, the guest has to be a non knitter. They will promote me as a free guest speaker.....I will talk about the energy crisis, and how to keep the family warm with super simple again...free patterns that I will bring with me as well. Also I will bring my usual stuff that the store sells, as well as some gifty type things that are suitable for gift giving. We price it at their retail price, and split 50/50% at the end of the show. I will even send along to them a sample mail out invitation that they can copy, and fill in the blanks with their shop info. Their cost is .25 cents for the free gift, and the cost of mailing their news letter. oh, and some snacks if they like. It will promote their clientele into the store, and bring non knitters into the fold. I will suggest they offer a special to new people of perhaps 2 free beginner knitting classes with every 30.00's of yarn purchase.....It's a no brainer!!!! I will update you on the results. Hey, if after all my efforts, they are still not willing to help themselves, then they may simply just not care, and will give up. (all the more customers for the shops that do participate yes)? Sorry to be on my high horse..... I have had 5 of them..What I have learned from 45 years of horseback riding......is if you fall off.....you gotta get right back on. The saying goes thusly: "THE HORSE AINT BEEN BORN THAT CANT BE RODE, THE COWGAL AINT BEEN BORN THAT CANT BE THROWED" I try to look at life that way....Its a Can do it attitude, and with caution.....BUT DO IT !!!

better days are fianlly here....yeah!!

Hi all. Better day today for sure. I found out I was a finalist in a contest to create an all wool farm play matt. I got a call for an interview on Tuesday coming...and I found out that I was accepted on a 100% scholarship at the John C Campbell school in North Carolina. I will be attending a 5 day class on welding. I have always wanted to try this......so cool. I hope to add lawn ornaments to my line of inventory marketing to gift shops across the country. Perhaps one day I will not need to do any other type of work besides my art. Way Cool .... My older dog Hope does not have a urinary tract infection as thought. she is too alkaline infact. So vitiman c is the order of the day. All is well in Lisa's little world....good night y'all.

WhewD! What a busy weekend.

Lets see a short update in m y world...Friday eve, found a small wet spot again on my recliner chair that my older dog Hope lets me sit in sometimes. washed the afghan, and the chair yadda yadda yadda. Saturday got up and went to a dying day with my friend Donna D, at our other friends Heidi's house. She is such a willing and gracious hostess. where did the pepper jell topped dip go????.... All about natural dyes for our beloved wool fibers. It was a touch long, but we all learned alot. I had to leave early at 3, as my DH (Dear Hubby) okayed going to party at 5 and of course volenteered me to cook for said party. Funny, he had to leave the party at 7, as he had a gig to play at that night. For those of you who dont know, he is in an awesome band on weekends. Lots of blues, and older rock stuff. Hendrix, Bee Bee King etc. you can get the schedule if you like at www.Johnnyedwards.com anyhow...I decided to party a little too much before leaving. tons of bottles out for the taking. sooo we got home and I fell asleep on my chair with the two dogs of course on my lap. (see above pic). suddenly things got very warm...sorta hot. Dear Hope had fallen asleep, and Peed on me and the chair....OMG GROSS !! Poor thing must have a bladder infection. Back to the vet she will go this week. After all, 150.00's wasnt quite enough for us...me being unemployed and all. greeeeeat. today is Sunday, I spent the day filling orders for two yarn shops. More appts to sell on Tuesday, and one delivery. things are starting to happen for me. I have now branched out to tiny treasure boxes for needles, and sewing sundries to boot. Cool. everyone seems to love them too. I will bring some with me to the Coggeshall farm Harvest fair next weekend. Lets hope things stay DRY till then. I am letting hope out every 2 hours so she wont pee her pants again. I love my animals. I also love my family to no end, and have a super great group of frinds. so many BEST quality friends...I can totally be myself with. I am so blessed. Thankyou Donna, Heidi, and Karen. You mean more to me then you know....Gnight me
